APWU POWER Convention

The Power Convention was a great experience. I had the pleasure of attending my first ever Power Convention and I really did enjoy it. POWER stands for Post Office Women for Equal Rights. I'm a big supporter of women and now an advocate of the Power moment APWU has implemented. "Men of Quality Are Never Threatened by Women Seeking Equality" a phrase that should mean alot to us men who support women. National Research and Director Ms. Joyce B. Robinson taught How to run a Union meeting class and was excellent. Our own NBA Pam Smith, taught Effective Leadership along with Vice President Debby Szeredy which should encourage more women to step up. Overall my Power experience was amazing and will be supporting the movement moving forward.

Human Relations Assembly

June was a busy month for APWU. Nashville Local 5 sent seven officers and stewards to the Human Relations Assembly in Houston, Texas. It was a variety of classes put on including OWCP, EAP, Veteran's Rights and much more. APWU National Human Relations Officer Daleo Freeman put on an excellent Conference. While there a few of us went out and protested at the "NO KINGS RALLY" with fellow APWU members.

Later this month I attended the National President's Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. This was a great Conference. I got to witness the Presidential debate. AJ Jones (Current Eastern Region Coordinator) and Johnathan Smith (current New York Metro Local President) put on a great debate for APWU. The Vice Presidential debate was great as well, as our current Executive Vice President Debby Szeredy debated with Vice President candidate Vance Zimmerman. Besides the debates it was business as usual at the NPC. Each Craft Director addressed agenda items that were submitted pertaining to each specific craft. While in Charlotte we got to tour the LPC and saw how their facility operated which was pretty interesting.

Leadership Class

While this Leadership Class was very informative and well needed it has finally come to an end. The people I met during the three week course will always have a place in my APWU career. We joked, laughed, and cried. Well some of us did! The class was amazing and so were the instructors. I recommend people who are serious about the Union to at least apply. It was well worth it. Here are a few pictures from Week 3 (Graduation Week).

Hands OFF Rally

While Thursday March 20th Day of Action was a cold and rainy day we still had a total of 41 people come out to rally with us. That included a few Letter Carriers and well as a Mail Handler. A good way to show solidarity amongst postal workers. On Sunday March 23, 2025 myself and a few other APWU Local 5 representatives went and joined the fight with the Carriers on Broadway. Maintenance Director Cord Flecther, Maintenance Assistant Director Juan Solar, Assistant Clerk Craft Director Ron Armstrong, Steward Walid Danan, and APWU Tennessee State President Patricia Herron who drove from Memphis to FIGHT LIKE HELL along side our Allies. The battle is not over, we have more to do and it’s only the beginning. Hands off our public Post Office!!!!

APWU Leadership Institute Class

Hello all, It was a pleasure attending the APWU Leadership Institute Class Two week one this past week in Baltimore, Maryland. January 6th through January 10, 2025 myself and others were flooded with information on various types of leaders, leadership styles, what makes a good leader, and many more great topics pertaining to leadership. While there I had the pleasure of visiting the APWU Headquarters and took pictures with some of the National Officers including Vice President Debbie Szeredy and Assistant Clerk Craft Director "C" Robert "Bob" Romanowski.
